Hello, this product sucks! Don't buy it! Made from cheap plastic. I've only been using it for 2 weeks and it breaks when I open the back door. This is the second one I'm buying even though I got a bad one! But no! both are the same!

My 2006 F150 broke clasp, replaced with this part in about 5 minutes, everything works great, only downside is the clasp on the left side of the grip is much tighter. than the right, so in the cold I just have to be careful not to pull too hard on the right side. At first it seemed like a direct replacement as the OEM is also made from fairly cheap plastic. At first I noticed it was stiff in operation and thought it was going to wear out. I was wrong - this thing is so hard to open and it's only getting worse. Today it stayed extended and I had to push it. I use the back door almost every day so it's starting to get annoying.

I only installed this handle 3 months ago and it has already failed. The plastic mechanism that activates the latch has broken in half. I opened the tailgate maybe 10 times total and it broke. I went to Amazon to order a replacement but they wouldn't let me request a replacement. I strongly advise against purchasing this item as I believe you will need to replace it shortly after installation.

Once fitted, the handle works great. The difficulty was getting the original tailgate latch mechanism to fully engage the recess so the retaining clip would hold it securely. The slots for the clip on the locking mechanism didn't show in the slots in the handle body, so I had to cut the chamfer on the inside of the body where the locks intersect and widen the clip slots. Once I did that the lock was securely in place and works great.
