🔌 Dorman 84793 Automotive Headlight Socket Review

In the photo a braid with male and female ends. What I got were two male ends. Not what I wanted. According to Dorman, 645-996 is the correct part number for the picture and matches the 9006 bulb.

Works for a while then burns out like the OEMs. Better than a ticket, but they don't last too long in the '99 intrigue, just like lightbulb sockets. They are always on and generate too much heat for the plastic used.

Used to replace a blown connector on a 2003 Toyota Corolla. Connected to the existing headlight wire. Supplied with a sufficiently long cable. It has been working great for over a year, even in heavy snow and extreme New Jersey weather. A simple replacement at a fraction of the cost you would pay for this part at the dealer. /Auto parts store.

I read about this issue in another review. On the 2004 GMC Envoy, access to the headlamp assembly is too small for these connectors. These plugs are about 3/8" longer than the standard plugs. I removed the plastic clip on the back (it just snaps off), then I had to remove the tabs that this clip also snaps onto. Now it fits, but you have to really trying to get it in. It would be nice to have 2 built in crimps to connect to the old wire.

It is confusing what the item actually looks like as it has two different images of the item. Wire colors do not match colors on my 2006 GMC Sierra. Therefore, be sure to check the alignment. the old connector with the new one. I got two "premium" light bulb connectors for the price of a regular part at my local auto parts store and this particular pair is 3x more when bought from them. that I have to solder or crimp to replace the burnt one on my headlight.
