Insurance. in exhaust and emissions

Absolutely great! I highly recommend this for any GM vehicle using the R-134a system. A bit of Nylog Blue on the threads and you can screw it up or down (or both). It is excellent for sealing and preventing freon from leaking through the service port valves. I went ahead and replaced the high-pressure port with a Schrader valve instead of the leaky rubber bulb that GM uses, but that cap is my insurance. I've installed it on my other cars too.

Pros
  • Great product
Cons
  • Only available in black

Prevents refrigerant from escaping through the high-pressure valve!

I have an old GMC pickup and the air conditioning has stopped working. I evacuated and recharged the system only to find that crappy high pressure valve (the one with the little black plastic ball at the bottom) hissed. GM says this is normal and that the cap is the main seal on these valves. Mine was leaking. I wanted to replace the valve but couldn't break the old one so I found this. Just screw in and press firmly. Voila! No more electricity!

That saves time and money.

Thank you Dorman, we had problems with the AC on a 2012 Traverse when it was 2 years old. After several warranty repairs, freon ran out. The warranty ended and I decided to give it a try. A dye leak occurred from the high side around the connector and I spoke to the support team about it. They charged the system without locking the valve or putting a plastic cap on it. I appreciated replacing the top sideline (expensive and time consuming). Found Dorman made a plug for this GM issue, installed…

Thanks Dorman: Replacement Parts

My only regret is that I did not find out about this product sooner as it would have saved me the expense of purchasing a Schrader valve removal tool. The schrader valve removal tool still didn't work because GM didn't use a schrader valve on the high side service port on my 2003 GMC Sierra. The little brass plug did a great job of stopping the high side service port leak. Alternatively, one could buy a new service port, vacuum pump and 3 bottles of R134A refrigerant and attempt to replace the…

This is a BIG $5 Dorman fix to a stupid GM design bug

This is a BIG $5 Dorman fix to a stupid GM design bug. At one point GM redesigned the gasket for the AC service port on the high pressure side. Trouble is, the service port's rubber seal fails before any other part of the system. This means the air conditioning in our Tahoe was not cooling properly due to a refrigerant leak in the system. This service port seal is out of service. It has never been used. No work has ever been done on the air conditioning, no hoses/gauges have ever been connected
