Exact replacement of shock absorbers, struts and suspension

When I went to install the Bilstein shock absorbers I bought for my Chevrolet Avalanche I found that they did not contain all the parts needed for the correct one installation were required. Ordered these Dorman top mount bushings and they matched the old ones.

GREAT REPLACEMENT OEM

GM "does not sell these OEM parts". No matter how hard you try, the only thing they have at their disposal are smaller mounts. GM truck. Make no mistake with this purchase. Also order the matching lower rubber mount as it is not included in this part number.

  • Excellent Design

Too big, but better than aftermarket shocks.

I bought aftermarket shocks to replace blown factory shocks but after a year the isolators failed causing excessive noise in the front end. I bought them to replace but they were too thick and I was only able to replace the bottom insulators. This is super high quality. However, it's too big. I have no idea why Dorman made her so fat. However, they did help reduce front-end noise.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Concise manual

Replacing the lower and upper shock absorber bushings reduced the rattle problem when hitting small bumps on a rough road, but did not eliminate it. I really didn't need to change the top bushing because the bottom bushing would shrink over time. But even with interchanging both, the problem is that a steel bushing with a nylon outer bushing will slip onto the strut, seat in the lower bushings, fit into the upper bushing, and be too long. Tightening the nut on the strut to compress the rubber…
