2005 Hummer H2 in parts

The manifold on the driver's side was found to have a broken bolt head (closest to the windshield) causing a ticking engine noise when starting. Due to the limited working space, it is very inconvenient to install this clamp. Started at the top and built a wire hanger to hold the yoke while blind screwing in the first top screw. I climbed up from the bottom of the carriage to insert the second screw into the yoke, then climbed back up to reach down and screw it in. The third clamping bolt was…

Great repair for spare parts

I read a lot of reviews and decided it's time to order as I'm tired of the exhaust sounds when starting. I was able to install this from under a truck. I drove a truck up ramps and worked from below. I didn't realize it would be easy to remove the wing from this side. My truck had a ground strap that bolted to the head where the top bracket bolt goes. Took it off with a ratchet wrench then installed the bottom screw that holds the bracket in place. Then I put tape on the screw and put the screw

Matching tip best for exhaust and emissions

This part worked as advertised. I suggest that you look closely for the presence of an exhaust manifold gasket around the missing bolt before purchasing. If the seal goes away, it won't close the leak. My advice for the Tahoe 5.3 is that you do most of the work under the car. Yes, with removal of the front driveshaft and heat shield. Also, this part seems to be balanced. So if you screw in the top screw first and just dangle it, the hole for the bottom screw will be right where the hole in the…

Difficult to install. Heat shield needs to be removed

I do all the work on the car myself and couldn't wear this thing for life. I tried about 5 times, ended up removing the heat shield and it really made things easier. I tried prying back the heat shield with a pry bar, thinking that would have given me the space I needed, but it doesn't compare to removing it. Underneath are 2 10mm screws. Then he took it off just below the steering shaft. I moved the shield down and didn't remove it completely. then he made it so that I can easily screw in the…

Installation Tips 5.3L 4WD

5.3L 4WD Tahoe. Great part, but insanely difficult to assemble due to the lack of clearance. Here's what finally worked for me after hours of frustration. Be prepared to walk a few times and find your quiet spot. You are trying to drive 2 screws that you can barely touch with your fingertips into 2 invisible holes in a place where there is no room for a socket or wrench. Expect frequent dropped screws and parts. You have to work from above and below, going back and forth many times. The best…

It may sound too good to be true, but I promise you my friend IT WORKS!

Are your blissful rides ruined by that famous "Chevy exhaust tick"? Well, if this has only happened to you (don't worry, I was there too), the solution to your problems might be here! My All-American Chariot with the 6.0-liter Chevy V8 engine wasn't as special as I had previously thought. It turns out it has many of the same problems as most Chevy 6.0 V8s, like the all-too-common problem of exhaust manifold bolts not being able to handle all that raw, uncensored power. Two distributor bolts on…

The good old Chevy swoosh is gone! Silverado 2500 HD

Well you're probably reading this because your Chevy sounds like a Chevy, ie. classic tick-tick-tick header. I went with a 2009 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD, but it will fit almost any LS engine (5.3, 6.0, 6.2, etc.). Little did I know until I loosened my header bolts that this is actually a very common problem on LS engines. Come on Chevy, you have a known problem and you're still using manure manifold bolts. It's so common that Dorman have this patch to save you hundreds of repairs. FIRST I would…
