Improved Tire Levers for '78 Chevy Pickup

Installs under an old truck with the typical perforated corners you get at a hardware store. I found a square head bolt and machined the two opposite sides to fit the bushing and then used a coupler to weld it to a threaded stud that fits in the rear wheel well. And welded a nut to the protruding end. Now I can use a socket wrench to lower and raise the spare tire to check air pressure etc without wrestling with the heavy tire balancing on the support beam in the yoga position.

Pros
  • All spare tire levers have been coated to prevent rust and corrosion
Cons
  • Quick Guide

The first one they sent me.

Abandoned after two attempts. Cable. I tested the replacement on a bench using a 3/8" ratchet wrench with a grip of about 8 feet. This one works but requires too much force to turn; Every turn at the same place has a special bottleneck. i give it back Also, I got a refund. Very disappointing that this $100 item is so bad. Also, the first one shipped overnight while the second took a couple of days.

Pros
  • This part has been thoroughly tested to ensure high quality.
Cons
  • Expensive

I managed to get it under the trailer to the rear, behind the axle, attach, and drilled a hole in the side rail for the 3/8" drive extension to slide through. The tire can now be lowered/raised into the extension in the winch using a…
