Excellent system and installation on Dodge 2002 RAM 1500

Clear and simple instructions on how to "program" a new cylinder and the installation was easy. Of course, installation has more to do with how easy it is for your particular vehicle to remove and swap out the assembly, but I can tell you the Dodge Ram has a couple of bolts to remove the steering column and a little bit of pressure to unlock the lock and the old cylinder will pop out, then install in reverse and you're good to go. Took me about 15 minutes from start to finish.

Excellent Lock Cylinder Solution

When my Dakota's ignition lock cylinder started to become very sticky, I braced myself for another expensive repair. But then I discovered the Dorman part through a web search and decided to give it a try. As a member of Revain Prime I have nothing to lose if this doesn't work. Well, let me say this thing is amazing and certainly better than paying $300-$500 to a dealer or store. The hardest part of the whole process is removing and replacing the cosmetic plastic trim on the steering column. 🤠

Better luck putting my key in an old light switch.

This item (Dorman 924-793) is a waste of time and money. It would be better to buy a pre-coded Dorman switch or a Mopar replacement. Too bad this or Mopar is the only option to keep the same key for IGN and doors. It might work better if you have a new "Auto-Encoding" key. ir with Did the job cost shit. Thrown away and the 15 year old switch assembly disassembled, cleaned, reassembled and reinstalled. Not to mention that Amazon was late with the delivery again. Very disappointed in Amazon and…

Perfect replacement if you want to keep your old keys

Removed old cylinder, disassembled, cleaned tumblers and installed in new lock cylinder and everything worked fine with the old key. It had no mugs and had to use the old ones from the castle. I like this way more than the newer "autoprogram" style because I was concerned that a slightly worn key might make it difficult for other keys to work. This is for a chipless key that is black. If you don't mind a separate key for the lock, two new keys are included. 20 minutes from removal to…

Good quality ignition cylinder easy to install

This is a very good set of key cylinders and a great replacement for the worn cylinder in my Dodge Ram 05. It came ready to install with a new key but like them most of the time I wanted to use my factory key, which also fits in door locks. There are several videos on youtube (including one by Dorman) showing how to disassemble an old lock cylinder to remove and record the old toggle switch locations and numbers. It helps to make a drawing to keep track of the toggle switch numbers and…

Easy installation, works great.

Due to a worn ignition cylinder, I was able to remove the key from my Durango in any position. I also suspected that the old cylinder could be generating power consumption and killing my battery. This lock cylinder was very easy to install following the video instruction on the product page. The job took 20 minutes from start to finish, the hardest part was removing the steering column cover. The ignition cylinder works as it should and I can no longer remove the key in all positions. Time will

Pros
  • 1 year trial period
Cons
  • Slightly dented

This product works. I was concerned that he cut off or shaved something to adjust the glasses, but that's not the case. The cylinder must have programmable locking pins. You insert the key, and it should be the key you will be using most, twist it twice, pull it out, insert it into the cylinder and snap it back into the steering column. It is pre-lubricated with a suitable lubricant. It was almost impossible to tinker with other replacement car keys. It encodes the key very precisely, and a key
