Description of Dorman 926 958 Differential Cover

Direct replacement - this weld-on differential cover directly replaces a corroded original cover on certain Sequoia, Tacoma and Tundra trucks. Cost-effective repair - rather than buy a new axle, cut off the old cover and weld on this new one. Greater durability - constructed from heavier-gauge stamped steel than the original cover. Ready to install - pre-primed in weldable primer for a clean installation. Ensure fit - to make sure this part fits your exact vehicle, input your make, model and trim level into the Amazon Garage.

The perfect solution for a rusty Toyota rear end.

I managed to weld 01 on the tundra without removing the gears. I carefully removed the old cover with a grinder. I then rinsed the gears thoroughly with brake cleaner to ensure there were no traces of metal from the lapping. I was able to weld it to the old end with no problems, except I had to clean the rust thoroughly so I could weld properly. This part is actually quite thick and worked great with no issues, I would buy again.

2004 Tundra 4x4 Limited

Buying a new axle is very expensive and not worth the hassle. The next best thing is the Dorman differential cover, which is 10 times better than the Toyota original. When you say Toyota you think quality and durability, but when it comes to the first-gen Tundra, Toyota didn't do a very good job with the frame, where everything rusts and needs replacing. This cover fits the 2004 Tundra Limited 4x4. Very durable and much thicker than the old cover. The repair ended up costing $420. $60 cap +…

  • Out of fashion

Purchased for the first generation Toyota Tundra, just received the cover and measured. The thickness of the metal is 4.5mm, which is very thick compared to the standard welded Tundra cover. The thickness of the standard cover is about 2mm. The width of the flat rim around the perimeter is about 7mm. 24mm head, like the shank, but a larger head for better engagement than the slightly low and flat shank lock. I originally intended to drill holes and use M6 screws, but given the limited width, I…
