Don't ask me how but a few weeks ago while washing the mask in the sink it went straight down the drain. We rent and the drain plugs were too rusty to take apart. As many others have mentioned, this only applies to very light conditions. You have to be very careful not to twist it if it gets stuck on something because the spool twists and you can never get that twist. Remember the days when crappy phone wires turned into rats' nests?
