Excellent Book! I read and applied this technique to become a better and great artist! My husband is an artist and he taught me how to draw and become an artist so I bought this book! With the help and guidance of my husband and this book, my drawings have improved a lot! Also, drawing and art has become my favorite fun and relaxing activity!

I was disappointed with this book. I find it too complicated for an absolute beginner. The lessons come with lots of instructions and a picture or two that you can try to reproduce. I needed a step by step guide. They also spent a lot of time telling you what you need when all you really need is a pencil and a drawing pad. If you really want to learn to draw and don't have any experience, buy Mark Kistler's Learn to Draw in 30 Days book.

Not for beginners. There are some good tutorials out there, but the ABSOLUTE beginner needs at least a drawing class before picking up this book. Preferably two. I think this is a good drawing book for beginners to use alongside many other reference books and tutorials. This is a fact and a clinical presentation. I see a lot of people complaining that it's not for beginners. Reviews seem to indicate how some early examples of drawings progress from molds to abruptly completed professional drawings. Even an average student in an art class would have difficulty with this text. You don't get clear instructions, just professionally rendered images that you, a beginner, won't be able to reproduce.
