Description of Drill America High Speed Reduced Shank 16
High-speed steel tools are good for most general purpose applications, offering a combination of hardness and toughness for wear resistance. Gold and black surface treated for use in stainless steel and other hard metal drilling. Round shanks allow use with a wide variety of toolholding systems. When run in a counterclockwise direction (right-hand cut) spiral fluted tools evacuate chips up and out of the cut to reduce clogging. Heavy duty 135 degree split point.
I've been in the welding/fabricating business for 8 years. I specialize in stainless steel and have a good knowledge of proper drilling technique for mild steel. I needed 8 17/32" precision holes so I used a 1/8" bit to guide the hole. I went up to 3/8" and when I finished drilling the 17/32" bit on "2nd" of the 8 holes, the bit broke. The drill did not bite or kick at all. It wasn't a clean break either. It broke 1" above the shaft and then followed the flutes another 3/4". If I abused the…
I chose the used version thinking it might be blunt but that's not a problem as I know how much drills are sharpened . Spring. The drill looks like new and has never been used, average quality. I didn't use a bit because I don't need a bit of that size at the moment. I ordered a 51/64" bit and received a 49/64" bit in the mailbox. The bit container had three labels on top of each other. After carefully separating them, which wasn't easy, I found that the first label on the box was the right…
I bought these to enlarge the holes on my tractor loader. Current holes are 1 3/16", so not much material is removed here. Second, I use a quality Dewalt magnetic drill for this drill. The drill has virtually no wear. Third, I use a quality oil for lubrication. This is not mine first rodeo but it was the only drill i could get hold of in the shortest amount of time.also i must add that all the holes i drilled were beveled so the centering exercise was extremely easy.first hole ran in mild steel
