I use both colors depending on the fabric and if you keep them sharp (the sharpener is attached to the chalk holder) you will get accurate marks. I make a lot of dog bandanas and use chalk for decorative stitching. When I'm done sewing, I wipe the chalk line off with a damp washcloth. The chalk itself lasts a long time which is a bonus!

Set includes two pieces of chalk, blue and white, small but gets the job done. The sharpener broke the first time. It's a cheap V-notch brass strip that fell out of its mount. The V notch isn't even designed to sharpen both sides of the chalk, but I haven't gotten that far. I can use chalk so I don't have to worry about returning the item.

I bought a Dritz tailor's chalk for my sewing classes and it has now become a staple in my sewing kit. The product comes with white and blue chalk making it easy to mark dark fabrics with white chalk and light fabrics with blue chalk. This was especially helpful when sewing a colorful pillow where neither white nor blue chalk would have done on their own!
