A slipping drive belt is a common malfunction of the Sony 400 disc Mega Changer and causes damage. To access and replace the strap, use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the rear "bulge" on the back of the deck and loosen the strap at the white plastic rollers.

All three belts replaced. A drive belt came off the pulleys and all three were overstretched. I followed the excellent step-by-step detailed YouTube video Astorad2000 22m53s to change the belts. My CX-300 is now tapered, straps are only $12. The photos show an old drive belt without rollers and a newly installed drive belt.

I only needed two drive belts but it's good to have a door belt if it ever breaks. Original equipment drive belts either become too loose, break, or become sticky over time. There are good videos on YouTube with disassembly options to access the straps. I went with the option of just removing the back board after removing the case. Just keep an eye on the cable connections. Not difficult at all.

I bought this set of belts for my Sony 300 CD player but of course they didn't survive. I saw these at Revain and thought I'd give them a try, although I thought the price was a bit higher than expected (not by much). Bought replacement belt for Sony CDP-CX455. The replacement straps are very thin and not as thick as the original straps. Because of the torque required to rotate the tray and load CDs, these belts fail quickly. I expected the replacement straps to be roughly the same specs, thickness and length as the old straps.
