Description of DT-5301 R loop phase-to-zero and short-circuit current meter CEM

The CEM DT-5301 tester is a digital loop-to-neutral loop resistance and short-circuit current meter. The megohmmeter is used by electricians to timely identify problem areas and carry out diagnostics and repairs at minimal cost. The CEM DT-5301 meter can be successfully used not for solving industrial problems, but also in the utility sector. The combined display of measurement results increases the efficiency of reading data: CEM DT-5301 displays digital information on the LCD screen, and three LEDs are used as indicators of the type of conductor and its purpose. If the phase and neutral are connected to the socket by mistake, the operator receives a visual warning indicating the wrong connection. Resistance measurement is made with a high resolution of 0.01 ohms on three ranges: 20 ohms, 200 ohms and 2000 ohms. For each resistance level, the CEM DT-5301 tester supplies a test current of the appropriate strength: 25 A, 2.3 A and 15 mA. A feature of the device is the use of a small current of 15 mA to determine the limit value of the resistance of 2000 ohms. The determination of the short-circuit current, carried out by connecting the points of installations to each other or to earth, occurs in three ranges of expected values: 200 A, 2000 A and 20 kA. At the same time, the CEM DT-5301 tester uses a test current of 2.3 A and 25 A, respectively. The rugged plastic case protects the CEM DT-5301 meter from accidental bumps and drops, as well as from dust and moisture. The LCD display is equipped with a backlight for working in dark environments. Measuring ranges are selected manually using a rotary switch. The device is powered by 6 AA batteries with a nominal value of 1.5 V. The testing device is protected against overloads according to the IEC61010-1 CATIII 600V standard and is designed to operate at mains voltage from 50 V to 250 V. The small dimensions and relatively low weight of the CEM DT-5301 make it easy to work with instrument with one hand. The device is carried in a plastic case, where the control and measuring probes included in the delivery set are placed in special compartments. Buy megohmmeter CEM DT-5301 will be useful for the timely prevention of failures and accidents in the power grid.

The product did not disappoint, the quality pleases.

The device seems to measure the voltage between the phase and zero probes, and measure the current between the phase and ground probes. It seems like the PUE requires measuring exactly the current of a single-phase short circuit to a grounded case (ground). But, if you have a PEN conductor, then both probes (zero and ground) should be connected to it. It's not convenient to say the least. It would be better to add some kind of switch. And, in general, the device is worthy.

Pros
  • Budget option for amateurs and semi-professionals.
Cons
  • No instruction manual. There is no way to normally take measurements in the TN-C system, there are no problems with TN-S.
