Solid interface, excellent fit and finish, easy to put on and align.

I've read that they stiffen the front (and rear) of my bike. I don't know if they did it or not, but it's really awesome. The construction is excellent. It is easier to achieve the desired clamping force than with a quick release. I wish they had a hex interface as well so I could use a torque wrench, but I'm lucky enough to keep them.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Has flaws

Excellent design, soft thread on the nut.

Love the design. Love the extra clamping force but be careful. I must have overtightened the QR and the threads in the QR nuts are completely loose. I was in rural Alberta at the time, so it was pretty bad. I'm sure DT designed the QR nut to fail before the pivot itself, but the threads failed almost as if they were aluminum. I managed to unwind a thread from a skewer. Luckily, as it turns out, GoPro nuts are the same size as quick release nuts.

Pros
  • Rugged finish
Cons
  • Requires power outlet

this skewer is a must have

who knew I could love a skewer so much? I've had rear tire failure issues almost constantly when riding limestone trails in my area. Suddenly there was a rub on one side, I had to get down, rearrange myself, get up again. rinse and repeat. I wish I had dealt with this topic earlier. The new skewer - really safe and easy to chop - and I'm on the trails. This was my first ratchet skewer but I found a YouTube video that convinced me to do everything right :) It was really easy to install and isโ€ฆ

Best Skewer Design: Accessory

Special ratchet handle system distinguishes this DT Swiss RWS skewer from all other skewers available on the market. If you're familiar with thru-axle systems (used on forks), you'll understand the benefits of this Swiss-made DT skewer. No more worrying about wearing out the rubber bushings found on other quick release swivels, and it's super easy to adjust the handle to any position you want, even after the skewer is fully tightened. This was one of my favorite pet peeve when it came toโ€ฆ

  • Long Delivery Time

Good option for secure wheel attachment

I bought this to use on a bike with a Rohloff hub and horizontal dropouts. Rohloff has a quick release axle that works better with vertical or semi-vertical dropouts. This is because the Rohloff chain requires a taut chain to operate and usually there is nothing to take up the slack. (You can add a tensioner.) Add a tendency for QR-held hubs to "creep" forward (the chain wants to pull them that way) and you could be in trouble. Using this QR and Surly's chain hoist worked well. They work like a
