Kung Fu Takeover! - Shop Tools

It's a little awkward to apply a wrench to the flats of the nipple, but once the tool is in place, it won't let go until you remove it from the nipple. I can spin spokes secured with aluminum nipples to very high tension without rounding the corners of the flat surfaces of the nipples.

Pros
  • Still Satisfied
Cons
  • Expensive

My favorite spoke wrench

I think I have all the "professional" spoke wrenches (I make wheels). Some are ok, others are disappointing. But this is my favorite of all. It has a great "feel" and it's very easy for me to put the nipples on and off the spokes very quickly (even with arthritis hands). Bravo DT Swiss!

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Very expensive

Much better than other spoke wrenches.

Contacts 4 sides of nipple. The one that touches 3 sides might be easier to assemble, but this one is much better for straightening wheels. I have yet to round the nipple with it, which seemed to be a common occurrence with my Park spoke wrench.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Available in white only

First class tool.

I've built a few wheels with it, no rounded nipples and no issues with spoke tension to spec. I really like how this thing grabs all corners of the nipple and the wings are big enough so my fingers don't get tired during the day. Thanks to the firm grip on the nipple and the large wings, it is also easy to make very fine pinches (1/16 turn or even less): no slippage will ruin your nipple rotation sensation.

Pros
  • Great construction
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

One of the best nipple wrenches I've ever used

One of the best nipple wrenches I've ever used. Not good for the first pass of tightening newly built wheels as it's a bit slow to locate the four sides to fall on the nipple, but it's really excellent for fine tuning each spoke once you have the wheel at 90% to have. I appreciate the leverage (read control) you have with wide fenders and the lighter weight makes it very comfortable to use. If you frequently adjust spoke nipples or build complete wheels, you'll need this nipple wrench in your…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Broke immediately, DT Swiss replaced free of charge.

"Pressed" jaw immediately fell out. When I first used this tool, I dropped it on the floor and the jaw fell off. I spent 10 minutes looking for it in my bike library under desktops. He doesn't have a good connection. Pretty much every spoke I put on gets stuck and detaches from the winged body when I try to get it off the spoke. Complete and absolute bullshit. Appropriate because I just threw away some stuff and this was in my hands. Without a bang, the jaw dropped into a disgusting trash can…

Pros
  • The best
Cons
  • There are nuances
