The best paint remover ever!

This is the best product I have ever used. I removed the ugly brown color from a very porous brick. What you can buy additionally, use a clean paint roller to press the paper onto the brick. I recommend leaving it on for 24 hours or more. After that, it is recommended to use a paint scraper, forget it. Go to your local hardware store and buy a wire brush head for a cordless drill for $4 and use it, it's a lot easier. This stuff works so well I bought another gallon. I like the fact that it's…

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • No instructions

Attempted to remove a 20 year old door and 60 year old molding. First, it smells like strongly acidic vinegar/formaldehyde - not sure if it's paint or thinner. The instructions say "Mask Tape is an Effective Block" - the gel got under the paint around the walls and also peeled off. I spent 4 hours applying and scraping it off - a very tedious and pointless process. As a result, he was far from perfect. A few drops of gel fell on the varnished wooden floor and it started peeling off no matter…

Pros
  • Durable test results
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Most Effective Color Remover

Peeling is a completely different concept from color removers; Rather than a sticky, stinging slurry that you need to get ready before it dries, it takes forever to dry, which is good because as long as it's wet it's doing its job and you'll scratch or burn your skin and lungs do not. The trick for any stripper, not just Peel Away, is to cover it with plastic wrap after application to prevent evaporation. With other strippers, this gives you 1/2 hour at best for the stripper to work, but…

Pros
  • Great for Me
Cons
  • Compatibility

Almost no smell, safe and easy to use.

I've been restoring old homes for over 30 years; The house I just bought was built in 1806 and it has 210 years of paint on all of its wooden walls. There are so many layers of color that it is difficult to discern the beautiful profiles of the intricate federal-style embellishments. I used really ugly, smelly materials for the outside stripping, but for the inside stripping, the Smart Strip is fantastic! Paint it on bold, pretend it's a peanut butter sandwich, cover with wax paper, and go away

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Clarity
