When we go out we try to keep our pup in a safe place and he quickly learned he could open our sliding door. This lock seemed to be our solution. Pros: Brushed nickel finish looks good, uses standard sizes for doors that already have a lock hole. Disadvantages: One plate has square corners, the other plate has rounded corners. Follow the instructions using a nail to find the exact center where the door meets the lock plate. However, I had to adjust the door 3/16" vertically for the lock to engage properly.
