Use as a cat fountain filter

Instead of buying these expensive little filters for our fountain, I found that simply cutting small washers out of this gasket would be just as good, if not better. It's significantly denser than pre-made fountain filters, and once enough cat snot has built up, the flow begins to dwindle. I think that's a good puck replacement hint :)

Works Great - Aquarium Pumps and Filters

I bought this to use for my pet's water fountain. I was having trouble finding replacement filters for my pet water fountain. When I found them, the price was very high. As often as I had to change the filter, I had to think outside the box. I found this and decided to give it a try. All I do is crop it to the right size. Viola, it works just as well as commercial filters and is much cheaper.

Doesn't seem to do anything

OK I have this for my Seachem Tidal 55 on my 40 gallon tank. The water had noticeable particles and a greenish tint. I cut off a piece and stuck it in the filter above the sponge. I didn't notice it doing anything. After that I bought an extra Seachem sponge and put it in the filter to double the mechanical filtration and it removed most of the particles. I then took that product out and replaced it with a bag of charcoal and now the greenish tint is almost gone. The day passed. I'm sure thisโ€ฆ

Great for fish ponds

Really needed to add an extra filter to a waterfall. I rinsed the charcoal very well with a hose for a few minutes before adding it to the pond. As this was the first time I used charcoal in my large pond (I worried about my fish and always rinsed anything I wanted to add to my live pond. I've been using it for several months and seems very good in my pond to work The color has changed a bit, but that's normal. The fish don't seem to be suffering. I've also heard that charcoal helps againstโ€ฆ

Ideal for large pond filters. Rinsing is easy. reusable.

I use them for pond filters. They catch a lot of dirt. I can wash them and reuse them multiple times. They don't stay stiff when wet, but that's not a big problem. I really don't know much about charcoal. I assume it works. I use it mainly because it's a great money saver. I don't usually cut it into small pieces, except for specific things I'm about to do. These hold up well. I can use them over and over again. Definitely worth the money. I like her. I use all three. I use ammonia, nitratesโ€ฆ
