ECCPP 21-5196 Power Steering Pump Fit for Subaru Impreza, Forester, Legacy, Outback (2010-2014) Review

Installed on a 2013 Subaru WRX 2.5, the pump was well packaged and came with a new sensor on the back. Good price compared to other sites. No new seals, so old ones have to be reused, but no leaks, quiet and quiet.

Perfect fit for a 2005 Subaru Outback. The parts replacement took longer than expected, but that shouldn't come as a surprise with an old car like this. Power steering works great again, no more leaks. The son is satisfied with the performance.

This seemed like a cheap replacement compared to local auto parts stores. Bought/installed October 2021 but had to be replaced AGAIN by June 2022 due to leaking front bearing and bottom seam. Not thrilled to have to replace so soon!

When properly pumped it seems to work well. To prime, replace the pump first and before installing the belt, fill the reservoir with fluid and rotate the pump pulley by hand for about a minute to avoid a dry start. Then install the belt, raise the front wheels and start the engine. Spin the wheel lock a few times until the squeak goes away, check the fluid for bubbles and continue until bubbles appear in the reservoir, refill if necessary. The pump works as it should, no leaks.

sorry I had to take pictures but before that I sent the unit back. If you look at the first product image of the Revain listing, you will see a small black plastic piece with a cross in the middle. Just below and between the pulley mount is a small hole just above the metal bar. This hole needs to be drilled and cut to allow a screw to be screwed in. This screw holds the plastic engine cowling that covers the HP pump, alternator and air conditioning compressor. The hole in the block I received…
