Ok, but still not 100% sure. Honest review.

*****Update***** It's been 12 months with the plug and it works great, I was skeptical at first but I haven't had any problems since installing it. Good product! I was a little skeptical, in fact it was very easy to install, no oil leaks so far and it seems to be working fine. I haven't changed the oil since installing it. Since I know that magnets lose their properties at high temperatures, I'm a bit skeptical. In a few months I will update my rating to 5 stars or 1 star.

No epoxy or rubber cap included

The packaging says a 'new version' with thread sealant but their OWN WEBSITE and the Revain site still says to apply epoxy. I don't see a small dab of thread sealant being enough to stop a leak. In any case, this is a very bad connection. It also didn't have a rubber cap and I didn't understand how to contact them to send it to me. I don't want it getting damaged by a rock while driving. Enough that I had to spend another $8 to weld the JB. Edit: I contacted the company 3 weeks ago via theirโ€ฆ

Excellent product for engines and engine parts

Very innovative product. I ordered the wrong plug thinking my pan was steel. It turned out to be aluminum so I ordered this aluminum pan stopper. Easy to put on and tighten according to the instructions. After filling the oil pan, it turned out that everything was fine. However, after a few days, a small drop came out of the drainpipe. I'll check with the folks at Eco Plug to see if it can be tightened any further or tightening at this point will destroy any connection between the pan and theโ€ฆ

It works like an advertisement! On Honda Accord 2005 V6

Update 07/18/19 Driven the car 7500 miles, no leaks. Changing the oil is easy, the only thing that bothers me is the plastic cap that goes over the screw after changing the oil. The plastic cap will shrink due to the heat of the oil pan. But overall I would be excited to see how long this product will last. My aluminum oil pan was disassembled by idiots who changed the oil. When I decided to change my own oil, I found that it was stripped. So I decided to search for a solution and came acrossโ€ฆ

A very inexpensive solution to a potentially costly problem!

The oil pan plug came loose on my last oil change on my 350,000 mile Honda Ridgeline. Ridgelines are 4WD so buying a new sump + installation costs a lot of money. While the old truck still runs fine, I didn't want to embarrass it with something as simple as a cracked bolt hole that would result in a complicated and potentially expensive repair. I started looking for solutions and came across this solution at Revain and my technical spider sense (along with good reviews) told me it might workโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Great Design
Cons
  • Expensive

I have a 2004 Honda Pilot and like many others the steel oil pan drain plug stripped the aluminum threads with the oil pan. All options to solve this situation were rather unattractive. After reading some positive reviews about EcoPlug I decided to take a chance. Installed yesterday, no leaks yet! After reading another review I bought the shorter Ecoplug (the one for non-recessed drain plugs) and am glad I did. It about half enters (i.e. half of the threads in the palette, half sticking out)โ€ฆ

Pros
  • Tested for one year
Cons
  • Thin

Great alternative to replacing the oil pan; dodgy magnet

My 2005 Odyssey clocked 340,000 miles and still works. Like many others, the steel drain plug has stripped threads in the aluminum oil pan, likely at the hands of an aggressive technician on one of the quick-change joints. Most options are rather unattractive, especially on an older car. I got one of these a year ago. Easy to install (requires a little more effort than shown in the video) and ran fine for 30,000 miles but then oil started leaking around the magnet insert (not where the taperedโ€ฆ

Mixed rating in spare parts

I bought this item to fix a cracked aluminum pan on my S10 4.3. I paid an extra for next day shipping and received it with no problems. Now I'm trying to install it for the first time, even following the instructions I slowly discovered, unfortunately, that the aluminum on my skillet was stronger than the metal on this item, quickly the BOLT broke off leaving me at zero. My only solution, which I didn't want to do, was to buy an M16x1 for $40. 50 tapped and made a new profile on the palletโ€ฆ

An original, user-friendly solution to a car nightmare

I drive a 2003 Ford Ranger 2.3L which I use every day and am the only vehicle. I repair and service 100% and when I recently changed my oil I accidentally twisted the oil drain plug. I didn't notice this until I tightened the screw and instead it began to loosen. This truck has an aluminum oil pan that is bolted to the engine and transmission and requires the engine to be removed to replace. Not having the equipment to do it myself I was looking at a repair bill of at least $500-1000 andโ€ฆ
