Construction was good. I read several reviews before buying, many noted the softness. Other people's opinions don't usually matter when buying a product, but in this case I wish I had. The old Ecotools brush never got moldy over years of use, but the surface started to peel off and looked unsightly, so I decided to replace it. This unfinished and smaller, more difficult to use new model is a real disappointment and is the last Ecotools brush I get. I wash my brushes in a bleach solution every week and since this is new I'm going to treat them with mineral oil to see if it helps at all. I like this brush, everything is fine. I wanted a brush with soft bristles - these are almost too soft. If you like it very soft, you will love this brush. The bristles are also a bit short. The brush is generally small. The brush head is very small, about two-thirds the size of a "normal" back brush. I'm short at 5ft 1in so this brush will fit me but probably not a tall person. I don't have much of it so let's see how long it lasts in my shower.
