Almost 5 stars in Switches & Relays

I would like to award these 5 stars. But unfortunately I managed to pull one of the wires out of the relay socket rendering one socket unusable. But otherwise the items worked as described for my setup in my 2001 Subaru Forester. I bought a set of 5 and used one to power a Subaru HVAC fan relay (30 amp circuit), an aftermarket dual USB 4.2 amp circuit and a dash cam circuit (5 amp). substitute.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • So far so good

Bad crimp, bad contact

Terrible crimp. Worked less than 2 months then quit. I went to inspect the failure mode. and noticed that if I move the relay a little it works. narrowed it down to a ground trip wire. I checked it out and. not properly crimped. I checked the voltage of all other cables. The wires came straight out of the crimp connectors. As if they weren't even crimped, but simply inserted into the holder. Check your wires and re-crimp/solder if necessary.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Communication with seller

Good relays with more current

Opened once and compared to a conventional Bosch relay (30 amps). The contacts in the Ehdis relay were approximately 50% larger than the 30 amp relay and included braided copper wire to the moving contact. Good stuff! Relay sockets are easily repairable. Insert a flathead screwdriver or similar jeweler's tool into each terminal slot on the relay side and press the locking tab against the terminal. Pull the wire and the connector slides straight out of the socket. You can test the strength of…

It's a good buy

I bought these relays to replace defective units in the electric winch used to raise the roof of my extendable trailer. It was a third of the cost of ordering a replacement from the manufacturer! They work great - just as good as the original. The included sockets/sockets are fitted with a decent gauge of wire. The wires are stranded, but the lengths supplied correspond to the nominal values of the relay. After I've rewired my winch using the sockets that came with it, replacing the new relays…
