Very quiet. Worked for 1 year, no problems. no noise Easy to clean. You just have to pay attention to the small black ring around the shaft. One of these fell off (and I couldn't find it) and I had to buy another complete stock.

This pump was a replacement for a Pondmaster pump of about the same performance. This pump is much better made and much quieter than the Pondmaster pump, it's just insane. By the way, I tried two different Pondmaster pumps. I am very satisfied with this pump and can only recommend it.

I got this eheim to replace my mag 5 which ran almost silently as a return pump for my aquarium sump for several years because the mag 5 started to vibrate very loudly after the way I used to emptied my basement after the flood. Eheim is actually louder than the Mag 5 it replaced. I think maybe I just have a bad pump, but I think if I paid twice as much for the eheim as for the Mag 5 then the quality control would be better. Over 30 year old model still in production! When paired with a larger pre-filter such as an ATI Max #3 filter instead of a small standard pre-filter, the impeller will stay cleaner longer. Good pressure for small Mazzei Venturi protein skimmers (484x) or as a return pump. Big and heavy like a '57 Chevrolet, but man, it drives great. do you want more flow?
