Alternate use in aquarium pumps and filters

Expand the plastic "grass" and use as a cover for fry in aquariums. Unlike yarn, it doesn't get dirty and is easy to clean. Floats or sinks. highlighted.

Pros
  • Hard wearing surface
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Excellent filter material in aquarium pumps and filters

Love this product, use it in all my Eheim external filters as well as some other filters. very versatile, easy to pack into a container of almost any shape. It absorbs dirt but is also easy to clean for reuse

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Weight

Quantity Warning Suitable for aquarium pumps and filters

This product says 5 liters but should say '5 x 1 litre' as there are 5 individually wrapped 1 liter units. Same great filter product and you can stuff it in there if you need it but when I bought it I thought it was 1 large piece per 5 litres.

Pros
  • Heavy duty construction
Cons
  • I will add later

A really excellent filter medium!

I wouldn't run the filter without him. It carries a negative electrical charge that actually attracts dirt. You can throw it alone in a dirty tank and the dirt will slowly migrate there. It's expensive, but considering you can use it practically forever, it more than makes up for the initial investment. Rub it vigorously under the running water and it will be as fresh as when you first took it out of the box.

Pros
  • The best in its niche
Cons
  • There are nuances

Industry leading

Sponges have pretty much supplanted this tried-and-true mechanical filter medium for most hobbyists, but they don't catch as much dirt without clogging as the old-fashioned "grass". I use both in many of my filters as I feel it is a more effective second layer (after the ceramic noodles) while a sponge works well as a third. It also lasts forever. I'm still using my first batch, which I bought from a closed store over a quarter of a century ago. If you keep big dirty fish you should try this.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are even more interesting options.
