Not enough scrap for 5 hours of use

5 hours of work was not enough. Ruined my whole Labor Day. Worn on in July, brought to the lake and running fine, after two weeks it gets hot and strands me, had to be towed.

Pros
  • Fits the following boats: 1998 MERCURY MARINE 4.3L 262 Fuel Pump, 2000 MERCURY MARINE 5.0L 305 Fuel Pump, 2000 MERCURY MARINE 5.7L 350 Fuel Pump and boats with MCM/MIE 4.3L/V6 and 5.0L/V8 Gen+ and multiple 350ci carburetors.
Cons
  • Very expensive

Very bad fuel pump. The pump filled my 4.3 Mercruiser carburetor until fuel came out of the overflow. Had to take the boat to the shop, they immediately diagnosed the problem with the new fuel pump.

Pros
  • Customers can find the right product exactly by OE number. OE Part Number: 861155A3 Mallory 935432 SIERRA 18-8868
Cons
  • May cause injury

Huge waste of time in the fuel system

I bought this because the OEM pumps were out of stock. I spent a lot of time removing the water pump straps and hoses to get to the fuel pump itself only to put everything back together and that pump didn't work at all. I replaced the Carter fuel pump and it works perfectly. I left that POS in place and rerouted the hard fuel lines.

Pros
  • Boat fuel pumps deliver fuel from the gas tank directly to each engine cylinder. To ensure good combustion and a quick start, this operation is carried out under high pressure. Over time, your Mercruiser fuel pump may wear out and require replacement.
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Incorrect pressure for carburetor

Didn't read the other reviews before ordering and hope to save someone some time. And to add, based on my research, this is not an issue with this particular seller, but it appears that all pumps currently available on Amazon that are listed as 'low pressure' also have this issue. Typical marine carburetors cannot handle more than 7 psi and these pumps operate in the 10 to 20 psi range. Probably works well for EFI booster pump applications, but will overwhelm the needle in the carburetor andโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Outboard fuel pump, threaded on both ends, for Mercruiser direct replacement. This is a low pressure pump (8PSI-10PSI) suitable for carbureted engines with a fuel pump or some fuel injected engines that use a low pressure pump system.
Cons
  • Not as good as it says
