Militant and terrible in every way

Complete technical failure. Requires an external power supply so you can see the connected devices longer. This is usually your PC, as it uses the same flimsy PS3-era USB cable for streaming (with no less disgustingly bloated bandwidth) but when your PC is off (because those devices aren't really designed for it, 24/7 to run) you will need to rearrange all the connections between your TV and gaming devices. I'm not sure if Revain has enough web space to fix all of the software's shortcomings…

Great recording device

Considered the benchmark against which other external recording devices are compared. A great recording device, especially if, like me, you're still stuck with Windows 7 like a buoy in a raging sea. Does 720p at 60fps if you set up the Elgato and OBS software properly and if your CPU is at its peak - if not, stick to 30fps and it'll run fine even on slower hardware. With an adapter (from the Elgato website), the device records S-Video and Composite.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Only available in black

To clarify, here are my PC specifications and Internet speed: PC: i5 processor, 4 GB DDR3 RAM. Internet: 20 Mbps down, 5 Mbps up I bought this to stream games on my Wii U. It works well and is even compatible with consoles that don't get power through HDMI. I used it exactly once on my original Wii and the quality was terrible (360p, 20fps with no streaming; TONS of frames dropped when streaming haha). But that's only because it wasn't connected to HDMI. I knew this was happening. I previously…

MUST READ FOR PS4 USERS

All in all a very very good game capture product. I'm using this for my PS4 and there are quite a few steps to go through before we can even record. First you need to disable DHCP settings on PS4. Otherwise, "No Signal" will keep flashing on your screen. To do this you need to do the following: Go to [Settings] > [System] > UNFACTORY [Enable DHCP] > Reset PS4 After that you can record EXCEPT you plan to record while using the headset. In this case you will have to order another cable…

I love it! - Computers and accessories

I bought this thing three years ago but decided to write a review. There are many capture cards out there and I haven't tried them all. I chose it based on the reviews. I love this capture card. It's small and simple. And it can be used to capture videos from all my consoles (Wii U, Switch, PS3, PS4, etc.). Sometimes I have to close and reopen OBS for it to recognize the card, but that's a bit annoying. There is a slight lag when recording, but if you want your voice to sync with what's…

Does NOT do ANY of what I bought it for for the dumbest of reasons

Looks like you can use it to stream video from your console or something. Although I haven't had any luck with any of the purposes I bought it for. And it just seems like it could be very easy to fix something so simple on hardware that seems to get updated very frequently. I was just disappointed. At first I wanted to use it for a passport. I figured I could use my laptop as a monitor to play game consoles with pass-through when I'm on the go. I've tried this with other cheaper cards that…

Pros
  • Great for a small home

  • Questionable purchase for seniors

Easy to use, good value for money

I'm new to this frame capture game but personally I don't see how the process can be much easier than using this device. This is a simple black box that serves as a meeting point between the cable going to your computer and a cable going to your console and TV. The process seems to be as slimmed down as possible. Setting up the software is easy and the interface is easy to understand for the most part. If your computer has enough horsepower to run it, it should be easy to get started. It…

Worked adequately with a bit of tweaking

It was a bit frustrating to set up, although most of it is mine (I completely forgot which version I bought so spent 3 days trying to find the wrong driver to install for it). Once I fixed that little issue and figured out what settings to use, everything worked reasonably well and the quality of the recordings I produced seemed acceptable (I'm so used to HDMI I almost forgot how blurry the audio was / video is ). . I had to be a bit careful with the HDMI cable as it sometimes got pushed too…
