Simple, reliable, works as it should!

For the price . This is a great leak detector. It's simple, reliable, comes with a VERY nice case and extra tip, and works well. Comes with a holster on the belt which I find handy.

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • I don't like it that much, everything is fine

Working but not trustworthy

Keeps giving me false alarms even when there are no possible leaks around. I've tried changing the calibration to a less sensitive one, but then no real leaks are detected. Also needs to be reinstalled every minute or else it goes crazy. Ultimately, the only real practical use for this thing is to find the source of a known leak, and even then it's a lot of trial and error with all the wrong readings. You really do get what you pay for and this thing is cheap.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Obsolete model

cheap and does the job it was designed for

bought to find a leak in my car's air conditioning. The device detected a refrigerant leak in the air from the air vents in the car, indicating the leak was in the dashboard. The device has a green light to indicate it's working and sounds very much like the old Geiger counter. beep beep beep is a continuous beep and when it detects the LED turns orange and the beep becomes almost continuous. I tested this by having him smell the refrigerant coming from my car's charge port. This thing also…

Failed three times. I wish it worked!

I was so hoping that this would work based on the positive feedback. I first tried to find an R22 leak in my home HVAC system. He found nothing at all sensitivity levels. My friend who had a very expensive one came and found it in no time. I then checked for an R134a leak in my old car. It was indeed clear that the leak was at the front of the compressor as there was oil and dust near the coupling/front seal. It didn't work there at 60psi in the system. Finally, I tested it myself by blasting…

Has paid for itself several times over in 5 minutes

I thought I had a leak in my compressor because of a dye (I thought) I had spilled on the bottom of the compressor housing. I wanted to spend 10x the price of this tool on the compressor, battery and diaphragm. Now there was so much dye that I didn't bother with the UV light and it was very obvious where the color had settled. ready to write a very negative review. I'd only charged the system a few days earlier and my air conditioning was running at the time, so I knew refrigerant was in the…
