📏 4003 Aluminum Straight Empire Level Review

I was hoping to use this for tailoring, but it's complete rubbish. Maybe they sent me the wrong ruler, I have model 403 not 4003. Came warped and not straight edge.

I have mixed feelings about this. I didn't understand what the listing was for, the Empire 4003 line (36" by definition). I have the Empire 4004 line, 48 inches. It's very long, well made, comfortable in weight, with numbers clearly visible and Markings, lays flat Did I mention too long I will keep and use this, hopefully I can handle it Husband looked closely and checked so this size might be useful to him.

It's strong and much thicker than a normal folding rule but it wasn't as accurate as I had hoped. I've tested it with several other rulers, including the Architect's ruler, and at about 12 inches, it was off by almost 1/64th. It's not essential for most household tasks or normal carpentry work, but if you need a high level of accuracy I'd suggest looking elsewhere. After some use, I recently tested this and found it great for flatness detection.
