I have used this brand of replacement filters on my Bissel Smartclean (model 58F8) with no problems. It fits perfectly and does its job perfectly.

The description says activated charcoal absorbs odors but the packaging says nothing about charcoal and the filters themselves are pure white on both sides and don't look woody. Element.

It was just the size I needed. My vacuum is over 10 years old but I have taken very good care of it and it still works great except it needs a new filter. I couldn't find this size anywhere else but they fit my Bissell Clearview vacuum perfectly.

Every time I turned it on, a musty smell came out of my vacuum cleaner. Turns out I probably sucked in some water or something and the filters had failed. These are perfect for my exhaust filters. My Bissell is only 4 years old and nobody has bothered to change the exhaust filter. When I inspected the original filter, the side facing the engine was COMPLETELY black. That is, the light does not go through. I threw it away and put in a new filter, white on both sides.
