Great scanner but kind of a marketing mess

I'm a bit confused. Like the less expensive ES-60W, I REALLY like this handheld scanner, but there are a few quirks that make me question the design decisions behind it - and the desktop and mobile app versions work very differently in countless confusing ways. me to the point where some product descriptions are misleading. I work in Information Technology (IT) and I can't imagine how the average consumer hasn't racked their brains over some of the 'missing' features advertised in the product…

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Nothing

A workhorse with two defects

The Epson ES-65WR is a kind of workhorse. I run countless receipts, bills and documents through. However, I had to clean and calibrate it several times when the lines started appearing in the center of the controls. USB connection to the scanner. It is really difficult to connect to this, because there is a projection around the connection on the scanner - very difficult to connect to the point of irritation. Two stars deducted. One star for calibration/cleaning issues and one star for the USB…

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Almost everything included

Excellent ultraportable scanner

This is my first ultraportable scanner and I am very happy with it. The only unexpected caveat is that the wireless feature only seems to "pair" with one device at a time, although I haven't done a thorough investigation. I only use the USB cable on my second PC. Accounting seems useful so far, a good option if you don't have an existing spreadsheet or expense records. The scanner software is good, I like the "Push to Scan" button on the device - launches the Epson scanner software on the PC…

Totally useless scanner with no support after 30 days warranty

Update: Called technical support. They send me a refurbished device. I will update the review once I use the refurbished device. 3 stars so far. I've been using it for 2 weeks and love it. However, now it throws an error as soon as I plug it into a desktop USB port. "The USB device is defective and has exceeded the performance limits of the hub port." "You need to turn off the device." Great, I went to the Epson website and they told me my product only had a 30 -day warranty and mine has…

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • Expensive insurance

really not worth it

I spent $200 on this portable scanner - it's really not worth it and will be returned. Scan quality is poor - shaky lines (which should be straight) and when scanning text documents the fonts look like they came from an old fax machine - thick, grainy and undefined. Keeping the page straight while it is being fed is also a problem with these small, handheld scanners. Most often it turns out that the scan is slightly tilted. After that, there's no way to set it up with the software, just scan…

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

Do not buy this scanner!

absolutely DON'T UNDERSTAND why Revane asked me to rate "warmth" and "thickness" on the scanner! haha However, this thing (Epson ES-65WR) is a waste of money. Today I tried four times to call support. The first time I waited 15 minutes (when the record kept telling me my wait was 5 minutes) before hanging up. Called back and a non-English speaking man who answered fairly quickly hung up when he asked how my name was spelled - he couldn't even understand a few letters! Third time again waited…

Pros
  • beautiful thing

  • exorbitant price
