Good but not great. best in home theater

I have used hearing aids that cost ten times the price of this unit. The device amplifies almost as well, but after a few hours it becomes uncomfortable and tends to slip out of the ear canal. I've tried each of the "plugs" and none of them were just right. I'm trying to make a stub myself to improve this feature, but I'm not sure if it will work. There is also some feedback noise when using the high gain setting. While I don't mind cosmetics, some people might not like how flashy the device is

High frequencies can be heard well

I've been using it for about three months. If you have hearing problems at higher frequencies this works great, especially when watching TV or during a normal conversation. It's not particularly good at blocking out background noise in restaurants, where there's a lot of talking and blaring TVs in most restaurants these days. Batteries last a month with occasional use (I don't wear it all the time). Opening the battery compartment to turn it on or off doesn't bother me, just one less switch to…

Better than expected and glad I have them.

My very expensive hearing aids broke and due to the unusual loss I was nervous about doing anything other than the digital hearing aid I was wearing. Not having the $5,000 I needed to buy a new set, I grabbed Revain and found them. There were some interesting reviews, but with a money-back guarantee and free returns, I gave it a whirlwind. I'm happy with the result and although it doesn't solve my hearing loss, the amplification works great and I can go about my work. I've had some problems…

No Etymotic warranty when buying from Revain supplier

Revain offer a 3 month warranty but my bean started rattling inside (a bit loose) a few days after the warranty expired. I contacted Etymotic and they told me the device is covered by a one year warranty and I need to send them the purchase information and they will replace it. I sent them the Revain information, including the receipt. Here is their response: Regarding your query, as unfortunately you bought them from a third party and they were not sold directly by Revain, unfortunately we are

Get a few - they seem more "balanced "

I waited until I had a chance to actually test them before posting a review. I only ordered one unit to try them out. This became my main problem because having only one amp in one ear caused problems for me. I wouldn't say it caused vertigo, but there was a definite "compensation factor" where one ear heard differently than the other. Remember, neither ear is good, but I put a block in the left ear because his hearing is worse. Then I didn't hold the device far enough to my ear (which is…

Works well for me

Ten years ago I had a sudden hearing loss in my right ear. For several years I had trouble adjusting to single-sided hearing. As I got used to hearing with only one ear, I began to lose hearing in my functioning left ear. It was a typical age-related hearing loss. I've been wearing Bean for 4 weeks now. I had an immediate improvement from my first use. For the first two weeks, I had problems with my own voice being too loud because I didn't have a secure fit in my ear. I tried different tips to

Improved hearing with settings

UPDATE #2. It really works and works well, but you really need patience and perseverance. Why these updates? Being able to hear well is important to me (music) and I think others are too. So: In the first there was a short circuit, it heated up and hummed. Revain replaced it within two days. This one seems fine. The problem was finding a decent fit for my right ear, which is a bad ear. I tried a normal installation, it didn't work. I tried a longer fastener but it kept popping out and only…

Works well for bird watching.

This is a review for those thinking about using it to hear birds. Recently, while walking with her wife, she asked me to identify the bird she heard. fun right? But I couldn't hear the bird. Less fun. I've noticed that I've lost some hearing in the upper range. This is not scary, but noticeable when communicating with people with normal hearing. So I tested some solutions to the problem. I don't need multi-thousand dollar hearing aids, but there is a new line of Personal Sound Amplification…
