Fresh Power - Dell Optiplex 390 (including some swear words)

I chose this for a project to assemble some free PC parts into a working machine and then found that the graphics card that came with it was something of a resource hog was need 650 watts. Having already opened it before getting the other parts I decided to use it on our Plex server which is a Dell Optiplex 390. This turned out to be a daunting task as the standard Optiplex PSU is slightly smaller. After some struggle and partial removal of the latch on the side of the case and some verbalized…

Pros
  • Quick Replace
Cons
  • Empty

I had a case where three hard drive bays were directly on top of each other. When I tried using one SATA cable for all three drives, I heard a loud popping noise. I thought it was a SATA cable webbing because they are pretty tight. It turned out that the SATA power connector was indeed defective. Did I have to use the same cable for all three hard drives? Probably no. I just didn't want to connect more cables than necessary. which I thought was the purpose of the modular power supply. The good…

Good luck with your EVGA products

Fully modular computer power supplies make cables more efficient. Another advantage is the lower noise level. If you own/use a more traditional, low-end power supply, you will surely notice and appreciate the difference in the almost non-existent noise level that this power supply offers. It's easy to install and includes all the cables needed for most PC configurations. EVGA graphics cards and power supplies were widely used and the quality was excellent. Most likely, the hardware will be…

High quality power supply and trusted brand

Firstly I spent a heck of a lot of time installing it on my Dell Optiplex 7010 (MT version). Dell places these plastic pieces next to the PSU bay and there is no fit. I had to mod and pry off the plastic tab closest to the case with pliers to install this power supply. It's not the product's fault, so don't take your eyes off the stars. The power supply worked like clockwork and looks really high quality. They say don't skimp on the power supply, I'm glad I didn't and got this good gold rated…

Fresh Power - Dell Optiplex 390 (with some expletives)

Graphics The included card is a bit resource hungry and draws 650W. Having already opened it before getting the other parts I decided to use it on our Plex server which is a Dell Optiplex 390. This turned out to be a daunting task as the standard Optiplex PSU is slightly smaller. After some struggle and partial removal of the latch on the side of the case and some verbalized hassle, I managed to install it. There is a noticeable difference in response speed since the old PSU had less power. All

Cons
  • Has flaws

Highlights Compotent

I built a few PCs when I was a gamer, professional quality control for work and family/friends in general. Take my rating for what it's worth to you. Why I Bought This: I bought this PSU because the PSU is the most important competency for my builds for me. I have only ever completely lost one computer and all of its components to a failed power supply (boom, lots of smoke and all parts were burned). That's why I choose the gold version from well-known brands (EVGA is the standard in my eyes)…

Pros
  • Dual ball bearing fan with EVGA Eco mode for exceptional reliability and quiet operation
Cons
  • Requires AC outlet
