🚲 Enhanced Explorer Rack by Topeak Review

Great trunk but I'm deducting a star because the front tie down straps are chrome. My bike is black and the trunk is black. The chrome bands really got in the way of each other. I had to paint the belts black. Some people will probably never notice this, but I did.

I fitted this trunk to my 1978 Peugeot UO9. The lugs on the rear wheel were unthreaded and 5/16 in diameter. I bought 5/16 x 3/16 inch sockets to fit the 5mm mounting bolts. I used a 5mm x 20mm stainless pan head bolt with sockets and on either side of the eyelet I used 5mm fender washers behind the pan head and between the post and eyelet and nylock nuts. I also didn't have threaded seatstays for the bike rack. On the seatstays I used 1/2" rubber insulated P-clamps to attach the rack arms. The

I bought this because my wife has a Topeak rack on her 26" wheel. It seems to be in good standing which is why I bought a 29er. When I received it, the tag clearly said they were 29ers. This bike rack system is second to none! I first bought one of these for my Trek mountain bike about four years ago and it still serves me very well. Porters for this are put on reliably and easily.
