A bit fiddly but works after reinstallation

Card installed, Windows 10 recognized it. However, it also supplied power and the connected device (hard drive) was not visible. I deleted the card in device manager, didn't help. Based on some of the comments here I reinstalled the map and it worked great. Very good transfer speed with USB-C hard drive. A day later there was a problem when the card gave power again. But I found that I hadn't put the screw back in, so the card fell out when I plugged in the USB-C device. So make sure the card…

Just what the doctor ordered for large files

I put this little card in an HP 8300 Win 10 Pro Desktop PC to back up large music and video catalogues. I decided to pair it with Samsung T5 SSDs. I couldn't be happier with the result. I've seen large file transfer speeds approaching 400Mbps. I regularly see 150-250 Mbps for small files in the 30-50MB range. No setup required. I simply opened the case, inserted the card, closed the case, booted up, plugged in the T5 and started. There is nothing easier. When you have large files, you need a…

This is the second card I bought for my old Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD5 based PC ( PCIE v2.0 ) with the latest version of Windows 10. Pros: + This option was easier to install than the previous one. + It allows me to enjoy my new Crucial X8 external SSD at 400 Mbit/s (read) and 200 Mbit/s (write). Not bad considering there is no SATA connector on this expansion card (PCIE only). Cons: - The only problem at the moment is the location of the holes. It's a little too close to the limit (see…

Plug and play Simplicity

Not much to say. Plugged into an open PCI 3.0 4x slot, instantly recognized by Win 10. Tested with fast 10Gbps USB-C to 3.1 Gen 2 cables. Immediately got the expected speed. In my case, the speed was around 600MB/s, which is limited by my SATA 3 drive, not the interface. Previously I was only getting around 350MB/s with my built in USB 3.0 ports. Make sure you are using the correct rating of cables, not all cables are created equal. Make sure the manufacturer specifies USB 3.1 GEN 2 AND 10Gbps…

A simple way to add 2 USB-C, 3.1 Gen 2 ports to your desktop.

OS: Windows 10 Education Installed in PCIe 2.0 x 16 slot on ASRock B450m/ac AMD AM4 Promontory motherboard. The 3.0 slot has a GTX 1080. It's a Matx build so it was a bit tight. It's probably an inch from the GPU and a few inches from the PSU case and very close to the phone's ports, but that was fine. It was such a small card that it fit in without directly touching anything or directly blocking fans. I doubt this will cause any airflow issues. The ONLY issue is that the clip doesn't sit flush

look elsewhere Lots of issues

I've waited months to review this product as I don't want to give reviews based on days/weeks of experience. Installation was easy, Windows 10 installed the drivers automatically. A piece of cake. Connected it to my Gen 2 DAS (Sans Digital) with a good quality USB-C to USB-C cable. With (4) 10TB WD Reds everything is booted up super. After a few weeks of use, I noticed that sometimes the connection drops and drives disappear. A few days after that I started having serious boot lags. It booted…

Looks can be deceiving

Easy to install. that does not work. return for a refund. Bought 2 Mediasonic USB 3.1 4 Bay cases for my 8 hard drives. As a reminder, these USB cases work but are slower than my $420 LSI SAS 9201-16I PCI card. Question: What to do with 22 hard drives? plus 2 SSD 1TB and 2 M.2 1TB. My ASUS WS Z390 PRO motherboard has 6 SATA ports: 4 for 2m.2 and 2 for SSD. 16 hard drives connected via LSI SAS 9201-16I.8, 4 TB connected via USB. I know 16 drives are obsolete, but none of them have bad sectors or
