I bought these as a replacement in a triple filter set. They look great but it will be a few months before it's time to change the filters and then another few months to actually use them/learn how they work. Nothing more to say, hence 4 stars for now.

Hardware store wanted $50 for a filter! This product is a HUGE money saver! I'm still using my current order. Order another batch next year! Excellent quality, no smell, fantastic work! Pulled this bad boy out after a month and saw a TON of sediment! I will buy this product again and again!

The box came whole and so did the filters. But they had one major disadvantage. By installing three filters in a row, the water was still fragrant and particles and dirty paint were visible to the naked eye. Since I had a box of 25, I ran this test multiple times with the same result. This is not due to poor plumbing or water quality, I have years of experience with these and other filters and other previous filter cartridges have filtered this water with no problems.

This is a quality filter at a great price. I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone who needs pure, great tasting water! I used to use an "on the counter" carbon filter. Contains a lot of carbon particles that need to be flushed thoroughly as directed on the label. I rinsed one of these in a 1 gallon bag before putting it in the filter housing and rinsing again, the water in the bag was quite dark. I use them for a pre-filter in a reverse osmosis system. The water goes through this filter which is a 5 micron filter and then a 0.5 or 1/2 micron filter {I think the 0.5 micron filter removes a lot of the carbon dust that comes from these filters remains}.
