I should have just sent this back to Revain. Every month I come across water quality testing equipment at work and wanted to get my own gear to help out with the local river guard group. I buy this unit from Revain and have never been able to calibrate it. I'm familiar with other brands' gauge calibration methods, it was very similar but the problem is that it never read properly so it could never calibrate properly. I made the mistake of contacting the manufacturer, I really wanted to do that.

Works but documentation needs updating

Bought to test the salinity in my pool. My saltwater system was reporting too much salinity, but I didn't trust it. I was able to use this and make sure the salt level was actually too high. Pros - Instant reading that seems accurate for salinity. Cons - the display is not intuitive. The manual is multilingual and my version was messed up - Spanish pages mixed with English :( Even after I found the right manual pages it wasn't clear how to take salinity measurements. Information for people who…

Pros
  • Testing, measuring and checking

Chemists review this instrument

I purchased this Extech EC400 Conductivity, Total Dissolved Solids, Salinity and Temperature Meter to check the salinity in our pool. We have a salt water pool and a built in chlorinator and the salinity is important for the chlorinator to work. For this application you would typically use the salinity function which is displayed in ppm (parts per million) NaCl (salt) or ppt (parts per thousand). My pool system recommends a salinity of 2800-3200 ppm. Extech reads these values in ppt, which is…
