The coating scraped off the first time

I used another ah so before and I tried this. t is correct, so the scratch occurs.

I lost my last A-So and destroyed 30.

I lost my last Ah-So and even destroyed a 30 year old cork with a double helix corkscrew. Now I'm ready for my next old crumbly cork! This is the only puller that can be used in such circumstances, especially when a slight leak is causing the cork to stick to the neck of the bottle.

  • Very good price

Does the trick well built

I run a winery tasting room in Northern California and IF you know how to use a two prong opener properly this is for you. Worked for me every time without bending or deforming. I used it for some recent corks and then took it to an event where I had to open a case of late 1985 Riesling (the corks were really bad). In both cases the opener worked better than I expected. The only reason it didn't get a full 5 stars was because the handle wobbles a bit and wobbles a bit when using it. I don't…

Broken bottle, dangerous defect

I like my old bottle opener but I wanted a replacement - so I tried this one. First bottle: no problem. Second bottle: As I pressed it down firmly, I heard a faint clink β€” the sound of a tiny shard of glass breaking off and landing on the floor. And when I twisted the bottle opener, half the neck of the bottle came off right in my hand. (Fortunately there were no injuries.) I looked closely and noticed that the break occurred at the edge of one of the pins. I pulled out my micrometer and found…

Great ah-so opener, great price, but not the best opener...

Over 40 years ago, my boyfriend at the time gave us an ah-so style wine opener. This worked well and accommodated my obsessive preference for doing no harm, allowing the cork to be pulled out with little or no damage to the cork. I've been separated from this awful opener (and then SO) for 35 years and recently thought about trying another awful opener to see if it's as good as I remembered it being. Short answer: not quite as good as I remembered, and not as good as a regular winged corkscrew.

Pros
  • Bottle Opener
Cons
  • So far, so good
