I was surprised by the quality for this price.

The pencils are excellent! Especially if you buy them at a discount. The numbering is fully consistent with similar colors from the FC Polychromos line, so to speak, a more budget version.

Pros
  • Pleasant tree, good and high-quality packaging, bright saturated colors
Cons
  • Maximum palette of 48 colors, price

Perfection for hobbyists

My only criticism of these pens is that they don't make a large set. If FC released 72 gold color pencils, they would be the only pencils I own. This is not my opinion. I had no problems mixing. I think paper is the key factor. Pencils react to the paper used. I use smooth as in most inexpensive coloring books. But I also used them on thick watercolor paper. With them I can work better with smooth paper. All my pencil sets serve different…

Excitement Turned To Frustration

While shopping at Michael's I came across Faber Castell Goldfaber pens. As with the pen display, Michael had free Goldfaber pencils to try on on a piece of paper. I was able to test some Goldfaber pens and like to add them to my painting tools. In fact, as soon as I got home I ordered 48 Faber Castell Goldfaber pencils from Revain. Unfortunately, my excitement soon gave way to disappointment. When trying to sharpen Goldfaber pencils, the tip falls apart. You lose more than half of your pencil…
