Paper buckles.

This paper is not suitable for my favorite techniques. Even if you wet both sides to minimize warping, I found it still didn't bend well. It also dries for quite a long time. I could try this with other mediums/methods (like markers or low water techniques) but unfortunately it's not a replacement for arches.

Pros
  • Machined
Cons
  • fade

I like the smooth texture of this paper. It handles water and gel media well. The only disappointment was how it was delivered. It was sent in a large envelope that was torn at the corner. Thank goodness not a single sheet was damaged but the entire stack of paper was torn off front/back. This should be sent in a box with little clearance or in a bubble envelope.

Pros
  • Notebook contains 50 sheets
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Extremely smooth, excellent workability

As a professional artist this is one of my favorite watercolor top papers. It is very smooth and works differently than a cold press. Cold pressed paper has a rougher texture and watercolors move differently on it. A smooth surface does not require much "cleaning". So if you're new to watercolor painting, a student who isn't great with paper, or a kid just learning, there's no need to "beat" it like cold print. For those interested in the craft, it works well with many die-cutting machines such

Pros
  • Size inside and out
Cons
  • Expensive
