Accurate Farberware Meat Thermometer: One Size Stainless Steel for Precision Cooking Review

It got wet inside and messed up the temp gauge which is just a piece of paper stuck in a tube. As soon as it got wet, it moved, and therefore its temperature can no longer be determined with certainty. It's also difficult to read. I like design but I hate technology.

I made three, yes, three batches of caramel for Christmas to get the temperature the recipe called for. The first time I used only the readings written on the thermometer. Epic failure. They fled so quietly. The temperature of the second recipe used. Still too soft. Walked into the water and hard ball like the good old days. Good work.

Got this for Christmas to make caramels. I broke another one. It will not stay attached to the side of the pot and the clip will be very flimsy. I don't think the temp was accurate, threw away 2 batches before using another thermometer and this batch turned out. I always use this recipe to make caramel and it didn't work the first time.

The size shown is the box it came in. Actual size is 2 1/2 x 3 x 3/8 from what I can measure, about the same size as a regular oven thermometer. no color coded temperature zones as shown. Except for the company name, it's all white with black numbers. Readability is no better than any other oven thermometer I've looked at. After only 3 uses, it became cloudy and unreadable. In any case, the displays were too thin, you almost had to put your face in a steaming pan to see a thin meter. I had to constantly adjust the position of the glass tube, the side clamp is poorly designed and the bottom of the tube rests on the inside of the pot.
