Very convenient for making pickles and sauerkraut.

I bought them because I made a lot of sauerkraut, pickled onions and pickles during self-isolation. All the recipes say to put the vegetables under the brine, but they don't seem to stay submerged. So I bought these to keep them under brine, especially for the first few days for pickles and longer for fermenting sauerkraut. They are ideal for large neck cans.

Ideal for wide mouth jars

These weights are great! They fit perfectly in wide-mouth jars. They are a good weight for keeping veggies under the brine. The handle has a "rubber" texture to make it easier to grab and remove the load. The box is very stable for storing scales. There should be some kind of finger grip/bow on the lid of the box to open it when empty. The top and bottom of the box fit together so perfectly that opening it when empty is a hassle. This problem was solved by draping a string, twine, or ribbon…

Facilitates fermentation.

I bought these for making sauerkraut and carrot starter. They work great as they keep the veggies submerged, but I have to use a fork to pull them out. There's another one that has a bridge that can be picked up instead of some kind of button. I'll try that next time to see if it's easier to get it out of the brine. Otherwise the product does what it is supposed to do and if nothing else was available I would buy this again. I will review another product when I order and use this one to compare

Not satisfied with my purchase

I am not satisfied with my purchase. I bought pucks to use in jars of fermented vegetables. Came with a nasty movie and stank. Two of them have bubbles in the glass. They look like they were sent back and then resent. I emailed the seller about 2 or 3 days ago and got no response so they are going back and I would not recommend this company. Update 21 Sep 19: The seller was great! He addressed my issue and sent me a replacement for my damaged proofer. I couldn't be happier. I want to change my…

smaller diameter Leaves more room in the jar than I'd like

Some of my digestate seems to be gone. I had to replace them. I thought all wide mouth jar fermentation weights were the same size. I found out it wasn't. They work quite well when what you're fermenting is larger. I wanted them for sauerkraut. I usually put a cabbage leaf or two on top before setting the load, but what I saw immediately after trying it is that if I don't use a cabbage leaf, any cabbage that is too small will float between weight and load. bank page. They do not fit in a normal

Well done but hard to understand

The fermentation jars are a good weight. They keep the vegetables below the brine level as intended without any problems. They're just the right size to fit in a wide-mouth mason jar. They do not fit in narrow-necked glasses. If you are using weights on something larger than a 1 liter can, you will need to add a plate or something similar to increase the weight's bearing surface. The weights are well packaged in a sturdy cardboard box and styrofoam wrapper that should last a long time with a…

Ideal small glass weights for fermentation in mason jars

These heavy glass weights are the ideal size for use in wide mouth glass jars to keep fermenting vegetables or fruit below the brine level to prevent spoilage. What makes them unique and more convenient than others I've had is that they have a little handle that you can grab to take them out of the jar that's built right into the jar. The others I have don't have a grip to get them out of the jar and you often have to dig with your fingers or a knife to get it out of the jar. Their diameter is…
