Can't beat this little device

What can I say? For the price it's worth it. It shows the approximate fermentation temperature of your beer or wine. I use mine on Better Bottle plastic bottles with no problems. Ideal for displaying the temperature of your beer. Note that the actual temperature of your beer will be slightly higher (due to temperature transfer between the beer and the plastic) than what you read on a thermometer. The only way to solve this problem is to have a floating thermometer or probe. in your beer Iโ€ฆ

Not as described.: Kitchen & Dining

The item I received does not match the description. The description states this is an 8" x 1" horizontal thermometer strip that includes temperature ranges for brewing a variety of beverages. I have a 5" x 3/4" vertical bar with no brew areas and the Celsius readings are dominant. Other reviewers said they also received the wrong strip, but I'm sure the seller has resolved this issue. But no. I needed 8" x 1" for a specific application and it doesn't work for my purpose. Very upset that Iโ€ฆ

Great when used properly.

In reviews of these "fermometers" I've seen reports of people having trouble breaking them when they got wet. Looking for more information, I found that these items break after being submerged in water. Water gets under the liquid crystal cells of the display and destroys it. However, if you place them outside of the fermenter buckets, there's little to no reason for them to get wet unless your beer explodes. To clean them, simply wipe with a damp cloth, just like the outside of a bucket. Evenโ€ฆ

Easy to use and easy to read

There are two types of these tape thermometers that I have used. There's a vertical one that's a bit harder to read as the timeline usually reads between two or three numbers, but this one is more or less a lot easier to read. The numbers are written more clearly and of course you (as a beginner) know at a glance which is more suitable for ale or lager. I bought about 5 of these and really enjoy using them. The bands are probably offset by about 2 or 3 degrees, but that's to be expected. Iโ€ฆ

Ideal for temperature control. I've used several of these over the years and also used a temperature sensor (0.1 degree sensitive) in the thermowell. This sticking "fermometer" matched the thermowell as best as it could (+/- 2 degrees). That said, I checked but never found that the temperature in the bottle differs from the temperature at the rim even during active fermentation. If you don't need 0.1 degree accuracy (and you really don't), this will work. You can get it wet (e.g. when cleaningโ€ฆ
