Metric bars. Not compatible with standard US rod mounts!

These rods have metric threads (M4x0.7) and are not compatible with US rod mounts. Standard US rods use thread size (8-32). All of my rod tips (which I bought from Revain) use a size 8-32. This article is useless to me, and since it doesn't define the thread size anywhere in the product details section, I'll rate it as one. The size of the thread is also not specified in the case supplied. I had to take the rods to a hardware store and use their thread check gauge to determine the thread sizeโ€ฆ

You get a lot for what you pay for

It's pretty cheap but it's a really decent product. For only $13 I was able to fish multiple times with ease. I saved a lot of money hiring an electrician. The only thing that bothered me was that the connection between the fiberglass and the metallic brass was a bit sharp so when trying to push/pull the rod it got stuck in the holes. A simple solution (I posed for the photo) was to add some plastic between the joints and voila! The bars are now tapered and can easily go in and out of theโ€ฆ

Worked great until it broke

I've had them for about 3 years now. I recently pulled it out again to use it to run more wire through the attic and 4 ends snapped while using it. They were kept in the container they came in and in my bedroom closet, so the plastic shouldn't be so deflated that it would fall apart like that. I have another brand that I bought over 10 years ago that still works great but it's only 12ft long and doesn't connect to these ends which was unfortunate. If you plan to use them for a couples projectโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Very expensive

Before I used wire hangers and long brushes to thread wires into the wall. This made a potentially complicated installation VERY easy. This product is very easy to use, very durable, high quality brass fittings and has so many uses. I will use it A LOT. The only drawback is that there is no screw cap. I carry my tools around in my suitcase and they break. It would be a nightmare if the compression top just came off and all the little bits inside were flying all over the place, so I just tapedโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Some minor issues

Not a contractor grader. You get what you pay for.

Initially I was happy with this purchase as on paper you get a lot for your money. Unfortunately they only lasted a month. First of all, the tube caps that you store your rods in are terrible designs. They are very loose and are constantly falling, spilling tiny accessories that can easily get lost in cracks in the floor or in the bed of your truck. In warm weather, the problem is compounded as the fittings expand and don't hold at all. The wands also don't glow in the dark like my previousโ€ฆ

Very breakable.

I've done some minor electrical work around the house, added new ceiling fans, hooked up Cat-6 to cameras and rooms, ran coax, etc. I was tired of using a cloakroom. to try to run wires through my walls which is why I bought this. And honestly I was very happy with it. The first project was running Cat 6 cables through my soffits to my new cameras. When I first used it, it caught a few times going through the one and a half inch hole. The brass fittings are wider than the rods so they hang down

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than others
