Just the fact that I can easily remove the ceramic disc for future cleaning makes it better than other nanoglass pollen diffusers I have. Also, this cone is longer and while taller than my planted Spec V, it has a quality metal clip that slides up or down the length of the cone for easy and secure height adjustment. The diffuser was in good condition after opening the box. However, when working with pressurized CO2, even the smallest gaps or defects in pipes, diffusers, valves, etc. will result in CO2 leakage. It took me about 15 minutes to install the diffuser with my system and when I turned it on huge bubbles came out of the metal tube just below the ceramic disc. Compared to all the other diffusers I've used, this is my favorite. The quality is excellent, very durable/solid and beautifully designed. I didn't have to worry about tightening the CO2 tube (the hard black one) and breaking the diffuser like some of the glass ones. The bubbles are small and evenly distributed (some of my other diffusers have different sized bubbles coming out of the ceramic membrane). My local independent aquarium supplier had a similar item but not as long (deep) so I had to find it online. My aquarium is 24 inches high and it is important that the CO2 diffuser is positioned as low as possible in the aquarium so that the tiny bubbles of CO2 are dissipated in the water before they reach the surface. This is my first time using c02 and this diffuser is great for my application; I have a 32 gallon aquarium with snails and fish. The instructions say to soak for three hours, but it took me at least 24 hours to get back to it after hanging it in the tank. After the setup was complete, I turned it on and off. voila!
