Did a cheap 1x9 rebuild on an old bike. Banishing Jamis 2. This works great. I left the stock rear mechanism, shortened the chain and put it on. No dropped chains after 5 miles on soft trails. Bought a red 32 tooth sprocket. The ChainRing is 0.5mm thicker than another cheap ring I've bought in the past and has only done about 300 XC miles. However, I am not at all happy that this chain was advertised with aluminum chainring bolts. They are very thin-walled aluminum. Serious. The directions say cranks up to 12nm.
