One connects directly to my Apex running my Frag system and the other two connect to their Finnex controller on my fish systems. This is an initial review of the 500w titanium heater and will be updated in 6-12 months. I bought this unit to replace two aqueon pro 250w heaters in a 125 gallon aquarium. The Finnex heater uses the same Inkbird 306t controller as previous heaters. The aquarium is filtered with eheim 2262 and fluval fx6 which provides good water circulation in a 72 inch aquarium.
