Expensive but very handy

With this item you can replace a Kidde with a First Alarm/BRK smoke detector very quickly and easily. However, for what it is (wire, with 2 plastic plugs) it is grossly overpriced. The cost per unit would be acceptable here if you could buy them in smaller quantities (e.g. 3 or 6 pieces). . Unfortunately, I unexpectedly discovered that one of those three alarm clocks was not wired or connected to each other. I'm leaving 10 of these to myself, which I hope to be able to resell. . .

True comfort is best among smoke alarms and fire alarms

I had 7 old Fyrnetics smoke alarms that needed replacing with new BRKs and I really didn't want to unscrew the wire nuts and reconnect all 21 connections. then I found this one. They are high quality and work great! Got the whole job done in less than 2 hours! Mainly because I had to move the ladder from room to room and change the ceiling mounting plate for the new detectors. They are simply plugged into the old plugs. I didn't even have to turn off the power. Well! Deducting 1 star because I…

Pros
  • Durable finish

  • Some trouble

Kidde smoke alarms on 3 levels (9 detectors) were connected in my house. The idea of reworking each fork for a new detector was very undesirable. These adapters were perfect (I carefully checked that my existing model of detector and my intended new models are included in this adapter cover). I bought new First Alert detectors from Lowes and quickly replaced my 15 year old Kidde detectors. The slow step was to unscrew the old base plate and replace it with a new one. The plugs allowed me to…

Time Saver moves to First Alert, but what about 12?

First, it really speeds up switching from networked Kidde smoke alarms to First Alert smoke alarms. Without these adapters, I would have to fish out the wiring in each junction box, loosen the nuts on each Kidde harness, and then thread the nuts onto the factory First Alert harness. Then (the tricky part) slide everything back into each junction box. If I ever wanted to go back to the Kidde modules, I'd have to do all of the above all over again! HOWEVER, I find it strange that First Alert does

Kidde to FirstAlert/BRK, Huge time saver

I had to replace 14 Kidde alarms. It took just as long to replace the first 12 (with these adapters) as the last two (with manual rewiring). The time saving of 6:1 fully justifies the price. Plus, when climbing stairs on a two-story balcony, attaching this custom tether with one hand is much easier and less tiring than fumbling with wire nuts with both hands. Another benefit of adapters is that ten years from now, when it's time to replace the alarm again if I want to return to Kidde, I'll just
