Complies with all current 10-year legislation in U.S. states/cities where required. Slim shape is half as thick as a standard smoke alarm; easy twist-lock mounting system and tamper-resistant design. Equipped with photoelectric smoke sensor optimized to detect larger smoke particles produced by smoldering fires; helps minimize the number of false alarms. Patented smoke entry system allows for a direct path to the sensor. Features loud 85-decibel alarm and single test/silence button. Patented smoke entry system allows for a direct path to the photoelectric smoke sensor. Nuisance free photoelectric technology reduces false alarms that result from cooking and shower steam. New sleek and thin design adds an element of style to safety. Meets UL217 standards and complies with legislative requirements for 10-year battery operated smoke alarms.

They didn't do well on fire safety

We bought three of these devices in October 2017. Right from the start we had problems with the alarm going off while cooking. In September 2019 when the family visited their bedroom it was working and continued to be a nuisance until we turned it off. Since then, all three have been so annoying and so irregular that we have switched off all three. During this time we changed the batteries several times. So we had no fire protection for almost a year. In the spring I called the fire department…

CANNOT USE Good for safety

Returned it after working with it for 2 days to try and fix it to the base. There are 3 slots that correspond to 3 tabs. If it doesn't rotate far enough to turn it on, the device will fall to the ground. I found a replica in my basement and found that when you push the activation tab up (as instructed) a plastic finger pops out sideways, preventing the tabs and slots from snagging. If you pull the tab outward, it will pop out and the device will connect to the base as intended. The instructions

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Have doubts

Is there a reliable smoke detector?

I bought a couple of these after reading reviews of many detectors. There doesn't seem to be a detector without complaints that it doesn't work. Of course, they regularly sound the alarm and then stop by themselves. I have no idea if they really work. The fact that they sound the alarm indiscriminately and then stop without explanation makes me nervous. I would replace them but since every detector has bad reviews I don't know what to replace them with. I wonder if any of them actually work…

Easy to install, insanely difficult to disable.

Installation was easy, there was enough space in the mounting bracket to fit previous fire alarm brackets and the unit was fairly easy to attach to the bracket. That's where the positives end. Like most people, I need a reliable smoke detector that doesn't work when frying bacon. that's not the detector. When we first fried bacon, not only did all the detectors go off, we also learned how insanely difficult it was to turn them off. The "Silence" button does not work without extreme effort. This

  • Loud 85 decibel alarm and a single test/silence button
