I didn't fall (nor plan to) to test it, but it looks like a real CE-2 back protector. It "maybe" some factory seconds because, as other reviews have noted, a number of vents weren't fully aligned and punched through. (I cut them myself and they are fine now). There is absolutely no excuse not to wear a back protector, especially with this quality and price. Spinal injuries are no joke. Do yourself a favor and invest if you don't already have back protection. As for the product, it's CE level 2 and it looks like it. This flexible and durable profile cures fairly well on impact. I replaced the non-CE certified back protector with this CD-2 protector. It turned out to be thicker than I thought it would be, but that didn't detract from the fit of the jacket. I'm not sure if the vents actually make the back protector cooler, but they might help wick some moisture away from the rider - that's just a guess. Didn't notice the jacket getting heavier with this back protector although I felt it was there while riding. It's comfortable with no sharp edges or hard spots. It…
